UK MEXT Scholarships (Embassy of Japan in the UK)

The programme is administered by MEXT, the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, via the Embassy of Japan in the UK. The postgraduate scholarship, tenable for a minimum of either 2 years or 18 months, is awarded to UK graduates who wish to pursue independent research or enter onto a degree course in Japanese universities. Research or study may be undertaken in almost any field as long as it is relevant to a grantee's field of expertise or previous study. The undergraduate scholarship in Japanese Studies is tenable for one year at a university in Japan. Undergraduate students majoring in the Japanese Studies are eligible. The undergraduate scholarship is tenable for 5 to 7 years including one year of preparatory education. In principle UK nationals who have completed 12 years of education are eligible. If you do not have a full British passport, please consult the Embassy of Japan in your home country for application details. The Japanese Government provides living expenses, university fees and return air fare. For the details of the programme for UK nationals, please see our website at: https://www.uk.emb-japan.go.jp/itpr_en/study.html
